Bringing Filotimo to Life: AVPartners at The BrainChild Ball 2025

On Friday 12 September, the Crown Ballroom at Crown Perth was transformed into a Grecian paradise for the 10th anniversary of the BrainChild Ball. This year’s theme, Filotimo, “to give and expect nothing in return,” captured the generosity of guests who came together in support of the Pirate Ship Foundation’s vision: happy, healthy children free from brain cancer.

AVPartners was proud to support this milestone event by delivering the audiovisual design and technical expertise that brought the theme to life. From lighting and sound to immersive visuals, our team helped create a setting worthy of a night filled with generosity, culture, and hope.

A Grecian Getaway

Guests entered through a columned walkway flanked by towering pillars wrapped in vines, setting the tone for the Grecian-inspired ballroom. Inside, themed bars transported attendees across Greece: a Santorini bar overflowing with Veuve, the birthplace of the Olympics pouring Bailey Brewing Co beers, and an ethereal Mount Olympus bar serving cocktails beneath golden olive trees.

The Crown Ballroom became a living stage of culture and celebration. Guests experienced proclamations from Zeus, plate smashing, traditional Greek musicians, and dancers. Later in the evening, an ABBA drag show brought the crowd to their feet, and the entire ballroom joined arms in the Zorba on the marble dance floor.

AVPartners’ Contribution

AVPartners worked closely with Known Associates Events to ensure every detail of the night was elevated through world-class audiovisual production.

  • Lighting: Golden tones and dynamic cues highlighted the architecture, themed bars, and stage reveals.

  • Sound: Crisp and balanced audio supported live performances, Greek musicians, and the high-energy auction.

  • Visuals: Immersive content and projection amplified the Grecian theming, creating layers of atmosphere that shifted seamlessly from dinner to dance floor.

  • Stage Management: From the live auction to entertainment transitions, our technical team ensured each moment unfolded seamlessly.

The result was not only a ballroom transformed, but an evening where technology and storytelling combined to create lasting memories for more than 600 guests.

A Night for a Cause

While the décor and performances dazzled, the purpose of the BrainChild Ball remained clear: to fund research into childhood brain cancer. Proceeds support the BrainChild Fellowship, held by Dr Raelene Endersby at the Telethon Kids Institute, and contribute to vital research projects that aim to improve treatments and outcomes for children.

AVPartners is honoured to play a part in this event each year, using our expertise to amplify the impact of a night that changes lives.
